The Royal Albert Hall is once more the venue of choice for the annual Concerts for Teenage Cancer Trust. For the first time they are putting on a folk night, which will be headlined by Fairport Convention. Also playing will be Eliza Carthy, Seth Lakeman and Kate Rusby, with more to be confirmed at the time of writing.
Simon Nichols said this:
“When we were asked to play for Teenage Cancer Trust, we couldn’t say no. Their Royal Albert Hall shows are such a major date in the music calendar, it’s wonderful that we can be involved. The fact this is the first time there’s been a folk night is even more special. We really hope the night will raise as much money as possible for Teenage Cancer Trust, and help the charity to ensure that every young person with cancer has access to the best possible care and support.”
From my limited medical knowledge I can tell you that cancer in teenagers is often exacerbated by the fact that they grow faster than at any other point in their lives, which complicates treatment.
Find out more at the Teenage Cancer Trust website, who know much more about the whole thing than I do.
